Happy Global Meetings Industry Day

Today, April 4, 2019, is Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID)—a day to celebrate and recognize the impact that business meetings, conferences, conventions, incentive travel, trade shows and exhibitions have on businesses across the world.

It’s easy to forget just how important gathering together in a physical space is for making business connections. In a world where technology makes it easy to connect from across the world, bringing people together in the same room is more powerful than ever.

In a survey of business leaders, the Meetings Mean Business Coalition found that executives report a wide range of benefits of meeting and events, including:

  • Closing deals
  • Networking
  • Professional development
  • Team engagement
  • And an ultimate ROI for their bottom line

Economic Impact of Meetings & Events

When you attend as many meetings and conferences as our team does, you can actually see the economic impact these events have on the local and broader economies.

Oxford Economics reported on the economic impact of face-to-face meetings and confirmed what we in the industry already know: the impact is big.

Every dollar spent on face-to-face meetings and business events generates an additional $1.60 for the U.S. economy.

And the trend is continuing to grow.
