Doug, Deanna, and Dorothy saw three distinctive properties located in the Mayakoba Development, located 40 miles south of Cancun near Playa del Carmen. Each property similar in size, but uniquely different in feel.

Rosewood Mayakoba has a sense of elegance and luxury upon arriving, with a stunning view from the lobby. The 130 rooms and suites are dispersed throughout the property and golf carts as well as a small boat are available to take you as you maneuver across the grounds. The spa, Sense, is located on its own island and has 12 treatment rooms and eight island suites. They focus on overall wellness at the spa and they have an adult only pool located here. The Rosewood property has three restaurants and a sushi and Tequila bar.

Secluded on 45 acres of tropical mangroves and canals, the Fairmont Mayakoba is a Five Diamond property with fabulous meeting space options, both indoors and outdoors. A small boat and several golf carts are available to guests, making it easy to travel across the very expansive pool and grounds. The Fairmont Mayakoba’s Willow Stream Spa features 20 treatment rooms, and the hotel offers eight restaurants and bars are on the property as well as a swim up bar.

Another incentive to staying in the Mayakba Community, especially for the golf enthusiasts, is El Camaleón. This 18-hole golf course, designed by Greg Norman, is reputed among golf’s finest players for the sand dunes, mangroves, and captivating seaside features along the fairways, and the fact that it is the site of the PGA Tour OHL Classic at Mayakoba.
